Practice
I am a lawyer. My current practice sits across justice innovation and technology law, data protection and privacy, criminal law and justice, and public policy, including the deployment and governance of AI systems. Organisations come to me for legal-technology integration, an AI governance strategy, staff preparation for AI adoption, and policy research, reform, or analysis for public bodies.
Areas
Data protection and privacy
Work on privacy, confidentiality, and data protection, including earlier writing on public health powers and personal data, and current questions about disclosure, privilege, and public-domain risk.
Criminal law and justice
Criminal justice practice and reform: pre-trial process, bail, and the design of procedures that remain lawful when new tools are proposed for the courtroom.
Public policy, AI deployment and governance
Policy research, reform, and analysis for public bodies, including how they should authorise, constrain, and account for AI systems. Earlier integrity work includes net-worth declaration instruments for senior Central Bank of Nigeria staff and a code of conduct for officers of the Nigeria Immigration Service.
I also founded and lead Thrive LegalSpace. I currently teach as an Associate Lecturer in the University of Reading School of Law. Those roles, and the public-sector drafting work, are set out on the projects and teaching pages.
